First, the news: this week we hit 2000 thank yous! My very rough estimate is that a fifth are from countries outside North America, one third have Arab or Muslim names, and about fifteen percent are Jewish.
Forty of you have signed up to the Israel-Palestine Working Group of Progressive Democrats of America. Thank you! I look forward to getting to know you better.
Here is the link to the debate between Norman Finkelstein and Gil Troy over Carter’s book. The format allows for both speakers to really articulate their views, so you can get an authentic feel for each side – much better than most news show formats. Maybe we’ll never see Carter and Dershowitz on Crossfire, but this is better.

It has been amazing to see the outpouring of support for President Carter’s new book. If you are landing here but don’t know that this is about, click here to add your public thank you and comment.
If may interest folks to know that some amazing people have signed this letter. These include Sam Bahour, an American-Palestinian living in Ramallah, Gila Svirsky of the Israeli Coalition of Women for Peace, Sami Awad of the Holy Land Trust, author Paul Rogat Loeb, Progressive Democrats of America Director Tim Carpenter, future Congresswoman Marcy Winograd, and Adam Keller & Beate Zilbershmidt of Gush Shalom.
Thanks to all of you! For those of you coming from various blogs and newsletters, please add a comment below with any interesting links you’d like to share.

Wow! Considering how little I did to publicize this, the reaction has been fantastic. We have signers from more than 40 states, and many from Palestine and Israel. A number of you have written me directly with suggestions for following up, to make the most of the opportunity that Carter has given us.
These include: a letter to the editor campaign, a national book party for peace week, help groups make bulk purchases of the book to sell at cost, and collecting funds for an ad in the national press, or smaller amounts to purchase some Google ads. Please add your thoughts and opinions in the form of comments, below.
PS: I’m also willing to consider adding more links to this page, if you want to recommend an organization, or an article about Carter’s book appearences.

Most folks who arrive at this page have just added their name to our petition. Just wanted to point out that we will pass the 200 mark today, after only 48 hours and very limited promotion! This mini-campaign is living up to expectations, with folks asking what else to do. We will consider raising funds for thank you ads in the press, doing a letter writing campaign, and announcing our work more broadly. If you can help, please contact me. If you want to learn more about Carter’s ideas, look at the articles page – it’s been updated.

I created this site to support President Jimmy Carter’s efforts to promote peace in Israel and Palestine. Check out the links to articles and interviews about his new book, Peace Not Apartheid. Please email me additional links; post your supportive comments below; and write brief articles about how Carter’s book is helping to promote peace and change US foreign policy. If you haven’t done so already, sign the petition so your voice can be counted. If you need to reach me – do so at clenchner at yahoo.com
